NANDITA DAS IS ORISSA’S BRAND AMBASSADOR
Orissa Tourism Development Corporation (OTDC) has roped in actress Nandita Das as its brand ambassador. According to Surjya Ranjan Patro, the Orissa tourism minister, Das will showcase the state through the slogan - Come home to Orissa. The campaign will be launched in two phases. The first phase, running through November-January, will focus on providing communication for several Orissa festivals. The second phase, featuring Das, will begin from February 2006.

AIRTEL STARTS NEW SERVICES IN KORAPUT,
RAYAGADA Airtel launched its network services in “Koraput” and “Rayagada” districts making its foray into several areas of southern Orissa and spreading its operations to 300 towns in less than one year of its operations. It has also announced to bring additional 100 towns under its network coverage before March 2006. With this total towns under Airtel coverage will go up to 400 in Orissa. Mr Ajai Puri, COO (mobility), Bharti Tele-Ventures, Orissa telecom circle said: “Our team is committed to deliver world class network quality to our customers in Orissa and provide them unmatched telecom service experience. The launching of our services in Koraput and Rayagada districts heralds our dedication in making Airtel the most preferred mobile service operator in Orissa. INDIAN AIRLINES ADOPTING THE LOGO INSPIRED BY KONARK TEMPLE
The state-owned Indian Airlines is going in for a makeover with a new name “Indian” and a logo inspired by Konark Sun Temple in Orissa, ahead of new aircraft joining its fleet. (Courtesy Hindustan Times) FIRMS SEEK MORE SOPS IN ORISSA It is home to the best names in IT, but Orissa is yet to get any big ITeS players. Air-connectivity, social infrastructure and manpower skills are the major handicaps here. Infosys Technologies and Satyam have set up software development centres (SDC) here. Wipro and TCS have acquired land for SDCs in Bhubaneswar. State IT minister, Surya Narayan Patro refers to talks with Birla group’s Transworks, and GE’s Gurgoan-based Genpact to set up BPO bases. Efforts to create a skilled manpower pool are on. The state-owned Orissa Computer Application Centre (OCAC) has a target to train 3,000 to 5,000 people annually over the next three years.
