Hi,
I like the comment from gopal sir. It looks like he has more close encountered with tribal life ( practically ). I belongs and born a in a village where till now there is no electricity(very soon i will post the picture ).

Here is my 2 cents comments on this context. As I have been live with this tribal village till i joined the engineering and noticed following few things.

- It has been more than 50 year to be independent of India and the great GDP growths more and more. After having this It feel me really sad that there is not electricity and no road communication to this place till today (a village called cherechatta,25 KMS from Nabrangpur district) .Where as in metro city it is being huge develop vertically due to big media coverage.

- When I go home(My village in Orissa ) and compare the development on every 5 year. I noticed the guy who came to from punjab and stays there making building and established his wealth.Where as his neighbour who is there for long time still the same position and hoping for the best. So, definitely he trapped there for some unknown reason and struggling to survive.

- By staying here in USA or developed metro city in India definitely we will say "come out" because we expect the things to be happen in terms of developed city or growth happening on the city. A guy staying there in village worried about his daily wage not about the lifestyle. I remember my mother use to loan small amount of money( something like Rs 100 /- ) for local people and they literally cry if she stop giving or went for vacation. You might imagine how difficult for them to maintain a little disturbance (because of this emotional attachment my mother do not want to take long vacation or want to come to my luxury house ;) ). Most of the time literaly every morning people they came and ask for work. So, that they can buy some little bit rice or kerosene and go home.Well,It is not the concept of running life from paycheck to paycheck. It is the running life on daily basis. So, definitely you will forget about of thinking about something called "come out" instead of thinking to "live today".You might be happy to know that now a day govt. making some kind of activity called "work for food" concept. Till now people they walk 30/40 Km to save Rs10/- on bus travelling. This is i am talking about my nearer and dearer village mate ;).

- When I go home sometime It took me 1 hrs and 20 minutes to reach Delhi to raipur/vishakhapatnam and again from there 12 hrs to reach my home after real struggling to get a transport ;).This is what...here you exactly come to know the difference a village and a metro :) (I remember one time I went home and did not got any transportation so I took a oil tank truck to reach my destiny after 5 hours of long wait and also because of mid of migh. A police Inspector cough the truck on the way and started biting the driver. He was in horrible situation and helpless.I could not control myself and started arguing with angry police inspector about the transportation problem and explain him how i came on flight and end up with oild tank. After one hour of argument I came to conclusion that I do not have any choice to give his assistant (indirectly to him) a Rs200/- tips and escape from the spot. Now he was happy and brave man,the driver and me. ).During my collage period ( before 1999) there was 10 bus from BBSR to Jeypore and now in 2005 only one govt bus from BBSR to Jeypore.

- A High School student life (may be after 8th class) is something like this. It might not be accurate but it is comparable.
- Wake up 6AM
- Go to pond for daily routine(including bath, toilet and brush) may be 1 and 1/2 hrs.
- Cycling one hour to go to school - Need money for cycle
- Study at school till 4 PM - No extra money for lunch or no money for "TO GO" or no tiffin box from home
- Come form school and play for sometime till 6PM
- Study for one hours
- Around 7PM ready for dinner
- and after If possible start studying using table lamp which is very low light.
- As the father is tide of hard work of the day. So he do not promote or support or entertain in between or he did not experience the joy of study.
- Max 9PM all should be closed and everybody should be in bed.

Now so far so good,The question is where will be extra money come for cycle?Where is extra money for kerosene?where is extra money for books or pen?Where is the extra money for kid lunch?Where is extra money for kids shoes? So, on the process till collage both parent and kid understand it is really hard to live other than start working in restaurant or somewhere in city and earning small amount of money to survive the situation. After all everybody act and live on situation not the future.Yes, definitely they are not dreaming to come to New Delhi or USA and also it wount'd be make sense to me by saying or blaming them like "what you guys are doing in junlge? ..you should participate on Internet or read newspaper ..people are making lots of money ...people are moving fast...bla bla...!"

- About the politics, Well politics is always politics.Good or bad it is politics, I definitely not like to be in loop.I was reading some govt report book.It say there is consecutive failure of 5 year jyojona for KBK project.Yes,There is something is wrong in between. It may be something like the childhood story called "KUO CHORI ".

This is all are my personal view or my personal observation. I do not intenend to hurt any feeling of a person or group of people.

At last but not least hope we will come out with better and accurate result by moving or participating the conversation :)

Thanks and Regards,

Suresh

I am not very much convinced by the argument that tribals would like to
live with sticks and arrows aand wander around. My experience in latur
block and Bagbaheli village in Bolangir, some villages in Nuapada,
Keutaguda in Rayagada, Tambakhuri in Mayurbhanj while I was travelling
in connection with SEEDS (Sustainable Economic and Educational
Development Society) projects is different. First, what they want is a
sustainable income generation and then education of the children.
At Keutaguda there is Gopalbadi School for tribal girls run by Kasturba
Gandhi Trust and a high school run by Utkal Khadi Mandal. These schools
need funds. Often it is some kind of Govt negligence and a large of
public apathy for which Annapurna Maharana, daughter of Gopabandhu
Chaudhury and Rama Devi has to go frrom door to door to kep those
schools survive.
Yes, I agree that such victimization of the people has been politicized
and taken advantage of. It has been so because of indifference of the
so-called educated people and those who have been fortunate to have
some wealth. Yes, I agree that the tribals would like to live in their
own cultural ethos. Who does not like that. We Oriyas here are
celebrating Kumar Purnima and Ratha Jatra. Actually that instil pride
in oneself so that one can engage in progressive activities.
Very recently, one entrepreneur Shradhananda Mishra from Canada has
provided the first private Chair in Mathematics at Institutute of
Mathematics and Application. Why cannot local Oriyas think of this when
they can spend lakhs on entertainment and elsewhere to host pompous
events? Why cannot the fund be raised to build a trust for Gopalbadi
people? Why should we depend on outside help always? An glaring
instance of this attitude was the pathetic situation during
super-cyclone. The irony is even the funds came in Orissaa could not
spend the whole amount.

This is really a great opportunity to having a free website for Orissa's interest. This is really high time to think, plan and act seriously on development of tribals in Orissa.
